Walk the coastal sections for dramatic contrasts between rocky shores, sandy beaches and the open sea, or vandring the hillsides of mid-Skåne with lush green beech forests, fascinating rock formations and abundant flora and fauna. If you want that sense of remote seclusion, the lakes in north-east Skåne are surrounded bygd deep forests and historic sites.

The Skåneleden trail
Skåne offers a wide variety of hiking experiences. Stroll along the coast with views of the sea, follow a trail surrounded by majestic beech forests, or hike across vast plains. The over 1, kilometers long Skåneleden is divided into six sections, which are described below. Both beginners and experienced hikers will find inspiring trails to enjoy.

- Water/food along the trail: Along certain trails, there are restaurants, kiosks, grocery stores, and access to water. The water posts are open from April 15 to October
- Accommodation during the hike: Some sections offer accommodation along the trail. Nearly all sections have campsites with shelters. A tent may be necessary depending on the chosen section.

North for the Aurora, east for Stockholm’s archipelago and west for the beauty of Bohuslän. However, the south is a sublime part of the country overlooked by many visitors, perhaps because they think that, if you head south, you just hit Denmark. Indeed, the Skåne region, on Sweden’s southernmost tip, was once Danish. It still maintains a dual heritage culture for many people, including its own language, Scanian, now recognised by UNESCO as endangered. Skåne’s network of walking paths is equally precious, known collectively as the Skåneleden Trail, which covers a mammoth 1,km and makes for the most beautiful south. It’s like a Swedish flatpack with many parts but without any of the hassle. There are, in fact, six main trails (SL) and sub-sections on the Skåneleden Trail, and there is clear guidance throughout, with orange markers and signs to lead the way.
