Jakob Ingebrigtsen is a middle- and long-distance runner from Norway, the current world indoor record holder for the meters.
At the age of 16, he became the youngest runner to complete a mile in under four minutes during the IAAF Diamond League event.
In addition to these remarkable achievements, Ingebrigtsen has clinched the title of European champion on four occasions.

It’s truly incredible to think that three world-class middle-distance runners could komma from such a small country like Norway. On top of that, Henrik, Filip and Jakob are brothers.

Their early lives
The Ingebrigtsens were born in Sandnes, a place they still call home today. I live in neighbouring Stavanger and often see the three brothers out training. If you blink, you’d miss them!
The brothers are coached by their father, Gjert, who had little or no previous coaching experience before taking on the role. However, since those formative years, Ingebrigtsen senior has developed into a top class coach.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen, 52, är logistikchef på handelsbolaget Ahlsells norska del.
Han är gift med Tone och har hela sju barn och på sin fritid hjälper han gärna till när ungarna ska träna.
Och ja, just det. Tre av hans söner är Europamästare på 1 meter.

När vi pratas vid första gången har Gjert Ingebrigtsen precis kommit innanför dörren hemma i huset i Stavanger när vi når honom inför EM. Han är hemma och ”hämtar andan före allvaret”, som han uttrycker det.
– Jag åkte från Stavanger första juni, sedan dess har jag inte varit hemma, säger han.
Bevakar sina söner
Först Oslo, vidare till Stockholm, sedan ner till den höga höjden i Sankt Moritz och därifrån utflykter till Paris, Lausanne, Monaco och nu Berlin. Allt för att på plats kunna bevaka träningar och tävlingar för sina tre löparsöner, Henrik, 27, Filip, 25 och Jakob,
– Jag jobbar med logistisk planläggning och det är klart att det blir mycket logistik när du håller på med idrott på den här nivån, det är mycket som ska anpassas, säger han.
